The medieval fortress of Barcarrota houses one of the oldest bullrings in Extremadura in its courtyard.
This enormous medieval fortress is located in the Extremadura town of Barcarrota. It is surrounded by streets, as the village of Barcarrota grew up concentrically around it. Perhaps one of its most noticeable characteristics is that its immense courtyard is occupied by a bullring, one of the oldest in Extremadura and unusually beautiful.
The Bancarrota castle, whose origins go back to the 14th century, stands out above all due to its keep with its rectangular structure, built in masonry work strengthened by angular stones and thick walls. It began to the Order of Alcántara at first, but ended up in hands of the Counts of Montijo. -
