Sport amongst monuments
Alburquerque, a small town in the province of Badajoz, is a meeting point for sports enthusiasts every year when the half marathon takes place.
The 21-kilometre race, which is held in April, at the same time as the Alburquerque country walk, gathers athletes from Extremadura and the rest of Spain.
As well as running the half marathon, visitors make the most of their time in town to go on guided tours.
