The Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol in Belvís de Monroy in Cáceres is the oldest religious building remaining in the town.
The Parish Church of Santiago Apóstol in Belvís de Monroy in Cáceres is the only one remaining of several religious building which stood in this town in the past. It was built in the 14th and 15th centuries, but it has been renovated a number of times over the centuries.
This religious building has an apse facing the east. It is a simple structure with a Latin cross floor plan made up of a single nave. To the left of the apse there is a sacristy covered by a groin vault, a small chapel and a bell tower with a strong Mudejar influence.
The church has been declared a Provincial Site of Historic and Artistic Interest and it preserves the primitive baptismal font, with a scalloped moulding. -
