Plasenzuela

Plasenzuela is one of the 19 towns on the Montánchez Ham Route, the region in which it is located. If you are following the route, this town is well worth a stop to enjoy some DO Dehesa de Extremadura ham in a different setting.

Many ancient sites have been found on the large plains studded with granite batholiths around Plasenzuela. These include the Cerro de la Horca, with remains from different periods (Neolithic, Copper and Bronze Age), the Romazal necropolis, with remains from the Late Iron Age, El Guijo and mines showing evidence of a Roman presence.
