Considered one of the most unique burial sites in Extremadura, this prehistoric site stands in an exceptional state of preservation.
The monument, located in the Badajoz town of Almendralejo, is unique, due to its peculiar structure and orientation, a space more than 15 metres long that was discovered in 1988.
Studies confirm that it was used for more than a thousand years as a burial chamber, although according to the latest archaeological studies, ancestor worship-related ceremonies were also held.
You will be guided through the site by information panels that informing you of the importance of burial in the culture of these people. A visit that will no doubt be a special one if you come at winter solstice, 21st December; on this day the sunlight enters its circular chamber, revealing all its splendour and is a truly amazing spectacle.
