The convent was built between 1505 and 1507 thanks to the benevolence of the bishop of Plasencia and the fact that three Franciscan monks needed to inhabit it.
This Franciscan convent is strategically located, sheltered from the north winds and close to a river, just a short way from Belvís de Monroy. Access to the building is on the north side, via a door with a semicircular arch crowned with a coat of arms. The south it is delimited by a large garden. The convent is comprised of the church, a cloister, a dormitory building, the refectory and service spaces structured around the church. The buildings are not very complex in terms of their construction, made of poor materials and with extremely austere decoration, as corresponds to the religious programme of the Franciscans.
